Two days long social protection fair took place at Alexzander Pilot School, Ramgoti, Lakshmipur on 26-27 October 2015 heading the slogan “Appropriate social protection for endangered humanity”.
NRDS is implementing “Strengthening Cityzen Engagemen for Effective Social Protection Service for Poor Project” at Ramgoti Upazilla in collaboration with Manusher Jonno Foundation -MJF and DFID since March 2014. This two days long social protection fair was organized as a part of regular project activity.
Mr. Abdus Sobhan, Upazilla, Agriculture Officer inaugurated the fair. Mr. Mizanur Rahman, Additional District Magistrate, Lakshmipur graced the program as chief guest, Mr. Ahmed Ullah Selim, Upazilla Vice Chairman and A B M Abdul Hannan were present as special guest; the program was presided by Md. Rabiul Hasan, AC Land and Executive Magistrate, Ramgoti, Lakshmipur; Mr. Sana Ullah delivered the welcome speech in the sharing meeting. Mr. Abdul Awal, Chief Coordinator of NRDS, delivered his speech as main speaker.
Eight stalls were displayed in the fair by NRDS, DORP, DSK, Upazilla Social Welfare Office, Upazilla Women Affair Office, Upazilla Fishery Office, Char Badam Union Parishod and Char Ramij Union Parishod. The main attractions of the fair were debate competition, cultural program and theater. The rules and regulations of social protection service were brought up through stalls and the theater. About 1500 people of different level enjoyed the two days long fair.
Chief Guest in his speech described, this activity of NRDS will help people to be aware about their right and the foundation of revolution among people will be built through this process. He also expressed gratitude to NRDS for implementing this kind of project in this area.
